The Soft Hackle Streamer is the brainchild of Jack Gartside, one of the most imaginative saltwater fly tiers of the last fifty years. I use the Soft Hackle Streamer on the beach when I need a fly that provides a lot of movement with minimal stripping. I move the body of the pattern back on the hook shank and tie it a little bulkier than Gartside’s original recipe but the effect is the same. Tied on a #1 hook.
