The Mer-Kwan, as its name suggests, is a mashup of the Merkin Crab and the Kwan, two venerable south Florida bonefish flies. The Mer-Kwan is a versatile bonefish and permit fly that gets down quick and stays down, necessary traits for a big bonefish or permit fly. My version comes tied on a #4 hook with small lead eyes or medium bead chain eyes.
