Grocery Fly - In Stock
TARPON & SNOOK | BEACHES | SE FLORIDA
The Grocery Fly is a traditional Maine striper fly tied in the style of master tier and Maine fly fishing guide Ben Whalley. My version of the Grocery Fly is designed to imitate the Ladyfish and small Spanish Mackerel that Tarpon key in on during the annual minnow and mullet runs on South Florida beaches. The Grocery Fly is my go-to when natural bait are thick on the beaches and the Tarpon are ignoring my standard patterns. Tarpon often target the small predators that corral bait rather than the minnows or mullet themselves. This has also been an effective pattern for me in certain situations in the Everglades backcountry where Tarpon are keyed in on Ladyfish. Tied 7-8″ long on a #4/0 hook.
