Dr. Aaron Adams developed his Big Ugly bonefish fly on a research trip to Andros, Bahamas. Big, heavy, and flashy the Big Ugly is a distinct and effective bonefish pattern and one of the first out of my box in the middle Keys. I also use the Big Ugly when I target redfish in Florida Bay. I've updated Dr. Adams' original with some of my preferred materials but the effect is the same. Tied with small lead eyest on a #2 hook and a single post weedguard.
