Late June through August brings an influx of juvenile bay anchovies, locally called red minnows or glass minnows, to the beaches of southeast Florida. When the red minnows are on the beach you’ll find the snook and tarpon in close too. I‘ve found that a small, modified version of John O’Hearn’s Taper Bug makes a killer anchovy imitation. Tied about 3″ long on a #1 Mustad C68s.
