The Cichlid, part of the new Bait Collection, is a hollow fleye designed to imitate the many small cichlids common in the fresh and brackish parts of the Everglades. Invasives like the Mayan Cichlid and the Oscar have become staple items in the diets of backcountry snook. Last season I caught a large snook in a very shallow backcountry pond that immediately regurgitated two large Oscars in the bottom of my canoe and this imitation has been a productive addition to my fly box since. Tied about 4” long on a #1/0 hook.
