Enrico Puglisi’s original Peanut Butter is one the most iconic baitfish flies ever produced and while originally tied with bluefish and stripers in mind it quickly became a staple tarpon fly from Key West to the Panhandle. I’ve tied hundreds of original Peanut Butter flies for customers over the years but I’ve never been a fan of fishing it myself. The original synthetic fibers tend to foul easily while reorganizing themselves into every shape but the one I carefully trimmed them into at the vise. Fortunately for us tarpon anglers we don’t have to worry about bluefish teeth so I’ve updated the original with natural materials to improve performance on the water while maintaining the classic taper and color combo of the original Peanut Butter. Tied about 3.5” long on a #2/0 hook.
