The Mangrove Muddler is a pattern I’ve tied in several iterations over the years. I’ve never been completely satisfied with the tracking of a muddler style head on a bendback hook so I started experimenting last winter and developed a new version built around a 60 degree jig hook with a tungsten bead keel. This version of the Muddler tracks very well while sinking slowly and remaining as weedless as possible around mangrove roots. Tied about 3” long with a 5mm tungsten bead and a double post mono weedguard.
