Late Season Beach Mullet - In Stock

The Beach Mullet is a modified version of Bob Popovics Hollow Fleye designed to match the hatch during south Florida's legendary mullet run. I tie this pattern with a technique that Popovics called the BULKhead to push water and allow the fly to suspend near the surface with a floating line or hover off the bottom with an intermediate line (in the Beach Mullet the BULKhead is reversed or hidden using hollow ties). This version of the Beach Mullet is tied bulky and realistic specifically for the end of the mullet run when larger mullet are still on the beach and the fish have seen every lure and fly known to man. The Beach Mullet has evolved significantly since I started tying it a decade ago but this version has produced like no other for me. This fly belongs in every Tarpon and Snook fisherman’s box whether you fish the beach or not. Tied about 6” or 8” long on a #2/0 or #4/0 Gamakatsu SL12s.
