The Beach Gurgler is a modified version of Bob Popovic's Hollow Fleye designed to match the hatch during south Florida's legendary mullet run. I like to fish a fly close to the surface on calm days and while a popper can be effective it’s very limited. I tie this pattern with a gurgler-style head to allow the fly to ride on or near the surface with a floating line or hover down in the water column with an intermediate line. Trim the foam collar as needed to get your desired sink rate. Tied about 6-7″ long on a #2/0 hook.
